What We Check
Every visit, written down.
Trust comes from knowing exactly what happens when we are in your home. Here is the visit checklist behind every Haven Free℠ away-care visit — 33 points, in the order we walk the house — and the report you receive afterwards.
The Visit Checklist
33 points, every visit.
Your Home Manager adds anything particular to your house — a wine room, a boat lift, a generator, a guest house — when we set up your home record.
Arriving and outside
- Arrival logged with a timestamped photograph
- Doors, windows, screens and the lanai, walked from outside
- Roof line, gutters and soffits, viewed from the ground
- Any sign of pests, wildlife, standing water or new damage
- Landscape and irrigation running as scheduled
- Pool water level, equipment running and the screen enclosure
- Exterior lights, and mail, packages or flyers taken in
Water, inside
- Every tap run, hot and cold
- Every toilet flushed and watched to refill and stop
- Under every sink and around the dishwasher, washer, ice maker and water heater
- Ceilings, walls and floors for any stain or swelling
- Water softener or filtration system running, if you have one
Air and humidity
- A humidity and temperature reading with a handheld meter, on every visit
- Thermostat holding the temperature and humidity we agreed
- Air handler running, and the condensate line draining
- Any musty smell or visible mold, room by room
- Dehumidifier running and emptied, if you have one
Power and systems
- Electrical panel, with no tripped breakers
- Appliance and clock displays, which show whether the power went out
- Refrigerator and freezer temperatures
- Garage door and openers
- Smoke and carbon monoxide detector indicator lights
- Your own sensors and smart devices reporting normally
Openings and access
- Every exterior door opened, closed and locked
- Windows and sliders latched
- Shutters as your plan specifies
- Alarm panel showing normal, if you have one (we receive alerts; we do not monitor alarms)
- Every key used recorded in the access register
Your report
- Photographs of the house and of anything we noticed
- The humidity reading and a short written summary
- A recommended next step for anything that needs attention
- Posted to your member portal the same day
- A call or message right away if something cannot wait
Our visits are observations, not home inspections. When something needs a professional view, we bring in a licensed inspector or trade.
The Report
What you see, the same day.
Every visit ends with a report in your member portal: the time we arrived and left, the humidity reading, photographs of the house, and a plain summary — with a recommended next step for anything that needs it. When everything is as it should be, the report says so, and that is the point.
Season after season, your reports become the written history of your home — and it is yours to keep if you ever leave.
How We Earn Your Trust
Facts you can check, before you hand us a key.
Feeling at ease starts with knowing who is coming into your home and what stands behind them.
Insured
Haven Free carries general liability insurance. Ask, and we will send a certificate of insurance before you sign — naming you as certificate holder if you would like.
Background-checked
Everyone who enters a member’s home has passed a criminal background check.
A professional member
Haven Free is a member of a professional home watch association. We hold ourselves to the standards our members would expect of anyone they trust with a key.
No fees from trades
We accept no referral fees or commissions from the contractors we coordinate. Our only pay comes from our members, so our only interest is yours.
Keys under written procedure
Every key and code is logged in a written access register, signed for, and returned to you with a signed receipt.
Discreet by habit
We never share our members’ names, addresses or travel dates, and we never use your home in our marketing without your written permission.
Let’s Start a Conversation
Give your home a partner. Give yourself the time back.
More time for the grandchildren, the golf, the gallery openings and the long lunches with friends. We keep the house — you simply enjoy it.
